The Epicurean Lunchroom, Day 5
This is possibly one of the more popular meals at our school: the calzone. Pepperoni pizza folded in half and crimped shut, but not before stuffing it extra full of pepperoni and lovely orange grease. The stuff drips out of it like a leaky faucet. You can kind of see it in the upper left of the tray in the first picture. That’s before even cutting it open. Paired with more orange in the form of carrots, and packaged, sliced Gala apples (I think they’re Gala, but they’ve been coated in some kind of preservative to keep them that bright, crisp, yellow color, so I can’t really taste it.), and you’ve got the perfect greenless lunch. Oh wait. There’s green. There, you see it? Those herbs? On the calzone? Cafeteria, the balanced meal achievement goes to you.
